The City of Balanga (Filipino: Lungsod ng Balanga) is a fifth class city in the province of Bataan, Philippines. It is the capital city of Bataan. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 71,088 people in 14,065 households. Its citizens are called Balanguenos. Balanga is a component city consisting of 25 barangays.

135.60 km²


Balanga City is the capital city and located in the 2nd district of the Province of Bataan, Central Luzon (Region III). It is 124 sq. kms. from Manila.


Total (2000) population is 71,088 with a density of 524/km².


Balanga is categorized according to income class as a fifth class city. It serves as the trading center of most agricultural products and manufacturing in the province. Bataan remains basically an agricultural province in spite of the rapid industrialization during the last decade.

Mariveles is the site of an export-processing zone that accounts for heavy industry in the province.

Cattle and carabao fattening, hog raising, and poultry industry, especially broilers and ducks and egg production, are some of the promising livelihood programs in the province.
