pic_kadayawan.jpgTHE regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said the business sector in Davao Region is preparing for the biggest business-related event that will happen in Davao City in October this year.
"I think this is the biggest event that will happen this year. It is a week-long activity that will be participated in by investors, business leaders and senior officials from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines," Teolulo T. Pasawa, DTI-National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (Nerbac) director, said Friday.
Pasawa is referring to the Bimp-Eaga Investment Forum slated in Davao City in October.
"The activity will have five to six events that will include an investment conference, a media conference, information and communication technology (ICT) congress, a seniors' official and ministers' meeting, and a BIMP-LGU forum," Pasawa said.
He added that DTI's participation in the event is focused on the investment conference that aims to improve and increase investment in tourism, generate projects that will improve connectivity, accessibility, and cooperation among member-nations of BIMP-Eaga.
Pasawa revealed that some of the activities will be held at the NCCC Mall of Davao. He earlier said that a working group has been preparing for the initial program as well as the arrangement as to where the other activities will be held.
Meanwhile, Pasawa claimed that in terms of investment, a lot of businessmen are already into property development this year compared to the previous year.
It has been reported that real estate in the region soared during the first five months of the year.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) 11 report said that most of the new investments in the region registered in the early part of the year are in the real-estate industry.
