Product Description
Fresh Fish soaked in brine and smoked to attain the desired palatable taste using technology which dates back to early 50s but has recently been subjected to upgrading to suit export market

Product History

Calbayog is noted for its delicious smoked fish which utilizes fresh fish for its raw material. Visitors who visit the city and get a taste of its famous smoke fish called “tinapa” in the dialect go back to order for more. Some even plane in from Manila to just buy the product. Brgy. Matobato is the barangay were the number of tinapa producers are concentrated which makes it the most visited barangay by both local and foreign tourst because of this delicacy.

The LGU of Calbayog in its effort to promote the industry developed a master plan for the development of the producers in each production process hence the fishermen sector, the fish deboners, fish smokers, fresh and processed fish traders and exporters were organized. To sustain the industry, the LGU established a Mariculture Farm in Brgy. Malajog where the industry’s development projects will be focused. Hence, the birth of Tinapa as Calbayog City’s identified OTOP

Bacolod City

A city made famous by its massive production of sugar, Bacolod's cultural flavor  is sweetened by the Negrenses generally happy disposition. Bacolod is home to  the renowned MASSKARA festival, which is celebrated every October, where the  city's streets are filled with masquerading street dancers hopping to the beat  of latin sambas and wearing brightly- colored smiling masks.
