News: CONFERENCE ON BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT FOR STATE UNIVERSITIES SET IN JUNE -

The heads of more than a hundred State Universities an Colleges (SUCs) in the country are scheduled to meet and tackle the need to generate more revenues of their schools other than thru tuition fees.
This will be the main theme on June 11 to 13, 2008 when the Conference on Business Development for SUCs is held at the DAP Assembly Hall, DAP Building, San Miguel Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.Dr. Romulo Neri, the Chairman of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) will be the Keynote Speaker.
He will be joined by a battery of prestigious speakers who will present economic opportunities for the schools from food production, marine sciences, alternative energy, medical education, to logistics projects.
Other speakers will include Secretary Relampagos of DBM ; Dr. Reynaldo Vea, President of Mapua ; Dr. Ofelia Carague of P-SUCCESS ; Rene Velasco, Chairman of the PNOC-Alternative Fuels Corp.; Saturnino Mejia, President of the Philippine Infrastructure Corp.; Red Paredes, head of BPO Services Association ; and Fernando Sanchez, Exec. Director of the Association of Philippine Medical Schools.Other CHED Commissioners are expected to review the results of the Conference for adoption by various SUCs as action programs.
SUC Presidents are expected to bring their technical and finance officers to work out concrete projects to boost the incomes and assets of their respective organizations.The gathering is a project of the APTECH Foundation, Inc. and the Center for Urban Management and Environment, Inc. in collaboration with the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC).
